POSITIVE GROWTH LEADS TO RECORD INTERNATIONAL VISITORS AND SPEND
Results from the latest International Visitor Survey were released by Tourism Research Australia today and show for the year ending June 2015: international visitor numbers increased 7% to a new high of 6.6 million visitors and international visitor spend grew by 10% to a record $33.4 billion—or $3.2 billion more than the previous year.

LEISURE TRAVEL CONTINUES TO DRIVE RECORD INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS
Results from the latest International Visitor Survey show that for the year ending December 2014 leisure travel dominated growth in visitors, with holiday arrivals increasing 8% to 2.9 million, and those visiting friends and relatives up 10% to 1.8 million.

STRONG INVESTOR APPETITE GROWS TOURISM INVESTMENT TO $53.7 BILLION
Projects in Australia’s tourism investment pipeline grew by nine per cent (or $4.3 billion) to reach $53.7 billion in 2014 (on 2013). The number of projects increased from 139 to 168.

DOMESTIC OVERNIGHT TRIPS REACH 80 MILLION FOR THE FIRST TIME
Domestic overnight trips reached 81.4 million (up 7%*) for year ending December 2014—a first for Australian domestic travel. Domestic visitor nights increased 9% to 309 million, while domestic overnight spend recorded 6% growth to reach a record high of $54.4 billion.

During the year ending March 2014 the number of international visitors aged 15 years and over arriving in Australia reached a record 6 million for the first time according to the latest International Visitor Survey released by Tourism Research Australia today. Visitor numbers increased 6% while visitor nights increased 1% to 214 million and total trip expenditure increased 6% to $29.6 billion.

Australia’s economy benefits from a 4.3% rise in tourism’s total contribution
Tourism’s Contribution to the Australian Economy, 1997–98 to 2012–13 report released today by TRA, confirms that the Australian tourism industry’s total (direct and indirect) contribution to the national economy is significant; estimated at $91 billion in 2012–13, or 6.0 per cent of Australia’s GDP.

During the year ending December 2013, the number of international visitors aged 15 years and over arriving in Australia increased 6% to 5.9 million, according to the latest International Visitor Survey released by Tourism Research Australia today.
